The Shield Tail Agama (Xenagama taylori) is a small species of desert lizard from Africa. They are omnivorous, primarily eating insects but also leafy greens. They are very bold and active making them ideal desert terrarium subjects. The males can develop a striking cobalt blue head when excited and they all possess bizarre and interesting looking tails. They are hardy and care is straight forward making them an excellent alternative to bearded dragons at a fraction of the size.
